World Music Week Work and Irish Dancing
The whole school celebrated World Music Day by carrying out a range of activities, linked to traditional music from around the world.
The pupils thoroughly enjoyed learning about different genres originating in various countries, even locating some of those on the world map!
Some of these activities included listening closely to a type of music to consider the thoughts and emotions that come to mind, writing a music review based on a particular genre, creating flags reflecting a musical genre's origin while adding key musical vocabulary to describe the different sounds, and creating music inspired by a particular genre using body percussion.
Cherry Class even participated in some Irish dancing and our resident expert Miss Fitzmaurice thinks they are already pros!
